Sorico
Church of San Miro
The church of San Miro is at the very end of a mule track that climbs up from Sorico, to be reached after about 30 minute walking, otherwise it is reachable from a plain path from the way to Albonico (signs on the place), after a succession of hairpin bends.
It was named after Saint Michele till 1453, then was consacrated to Saint Miro (died in 1381): the legend tells that the Saint came to Sorico from Canzo on a cloak flying on the waters of the lake.
Numerous miracles and hermit-life made him a subject of reverence, which was given explicit form after the discovering of his mortal remains in 1452.
Inside, there are frescoes and a painting of the Fiamminghino which represents the Madonna with the Baby, archangel Michele and Saint Miro.
From this church, it is possible to enjoy a beautiful view of lake Como.
